UK’s largest powered access specialist Nationwide Platforms, part of the Lavendon Group, was named ‘Plant, Tool & Equipment Hire Company of the Year’ at the Hire Awards of Excellence, while its latest intelligent secondary guarding system, SkySiren® PCS™, was also awarded ‘Construction Industry Product of the Year’.
Organised by the Hire Association Europe (HAE), the leading trade association for the plant and tool hire industry, the annual Hire Awards of Excellence celebrate best practice and acknowledge the successes of hirers and suppliers, along with incredible individuals who set the standard throughout the industry.
In winning the Plant, Tool & Equipment Hire Company of the Year (turnover over £10 million) award, Nationwide Platforms was commended for the adoption of its values and procedures, providing a stimulating and supportive workplace, and encouraging employee development and business sustainability.
The independent panel of judges commented: “A unanimous decision from the judges who felt that this entry was outstanding. It was about the company’s people and their achievements and demonstrated the reasons why the business was also enjoying its own success. There was no doubt that the winner in 2016 is Nationwide Platforms!”
SkySiren® PCS™ secondary guarding, which automatically detects and alerts operators of potential entrapment hazards, was also recognised at the awards after receiving the Construction Industry Product of the Year. Developed by the Lavendon Group’s dedicated research and development function, BlueSky Solutions, the device successfully demonstrated an innovative design and conception process, with the judges commenting: In terms of the winner of this category, the panel felt it a well thought out innovation that helped to enhance safety of their products, as simple as that!”
Jeremy Fish, Nationwide Platforms Managing Director, said: “We’re extremely proud that Nationwide Platforms and SkySiren PCS have been recognised at such a prestigious event. It is a great achievement and testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at Nationwide Platforms. By challenging our workforce to not only meet – but constantly exceed – the company’s core values and principles, we are able to excel and offer our
