With less than a week until the Showman’s Show returns to Newbury Showground, Event Hire Association (EHA) has unveiled its plans for the 2016 edition. Taking place on 19th – 20th October, the popular show attracts almost 4500 event professionals and is the perfect showcase for EHA’s wide ranging bespoke products and services for event hirers and suppliers.
Taking a stand in the main exhibition hall, stand 75, EHA will be displaying everything from its Future Hirers initiative and Codes of Practice for Portable Sanitation, Electrical Services, Safe Use of LPG and a new one currently under development for Temporary Structures, to professional services, training, legal advice and promotional items.
In addition, EHA will be demonstrating its brand new virtual reality software, developed in conjunction with the University of West England (UWE). Developed to assist with many aspects of Health & Safety training including: Working at Height and Dust Control, visitors to the stand will be able to see the technology in action and have a go themselves.
Also high on the agenda at the Showman’s Show will be EHA’s SafeHire Certification Scheme for events, the accreditation allows companies to demonstrate that have achieved a certain standard in their Health & Safety, quality and environmental policies and operations. It has been developed in conjunction with BSI, HSE and CHAS and is highly cost effective. All EHA members will have to achieve certification by 1st January 2018, and members of the team will be on-hand throughout the Showman’s Show to discuss SafeHire with members.
Any visitors looking for a more in-depth overview will be able to attend a SafeHire Mini Workshop at 11.45am on Thursday 20th October. As part of the official Campfire Sessions programme, EHA SafeHire Assessor, Aaron Cooke will be delivering a comprehensive overview of the processes involved in the SafeHire Certification Scheme, explaining its importance and the benefits this vital event industry standard delivers.
With a new EHA board recently unveiled that includes: Terry Douris, Stage Two; Chives Farrance, PSF Power & Pyro; Andy Gilman, Arcotherm; Stephanie Lowry, Adams Catering Hire; Richard Thomas,
Eve Trakway; Stuart Walker, Switch To Group Ltd; Gevin White, Co-Ordination Catering Hire and Kelly Wilkes, Marlow Marquees, the Showman’s Show presents an excellent opportunity to meet with many of them. Once again, EHA will be holding its annual members’ event at the popular gastropub; The Crab and Boar in Chieveley.
Ann Harrison, EHA’s marketing manager comments: “The Showman’s Show is a significant date in the EHA calendar, as the leading exhibition for the outdoor event industry, we always find it hugely beneficial for meeting with both current and new members. As a result, we always ensure that we put a packed programme together for our two days at the Show and maximise our presence there and this year’s plans definitely demonstrate that. We’re looking forward to talking to event hirers and suppliers about all the benefits that being an EHA member delivers and sharing a number of exciting new initiatives with the industry.”
