Following Lord Hire's celebration of 50 years serving the trade, a new chapter in the company's history begins with the purchase by One Stop Hire.

The acquisition by the Chorley-based small plant and tool hire company brings the number of depots they boast up to 25, and ensures customers across the whole North of England can be serviced. Take a look here at the new coverage areas.
One Stop Hire was set up in 2003 by the husband and wife team of Steve and Danielle Hitchen, who previously worked together at Ainscough Crane Hire (Martin Ainscough is her father). Since then the company has continued to grow and with the acquisition of Lord Hire makes it the largest independent hire company in the UK. The purchase coincides with the retirement of Chris Rowley - the son-in-law of Reginald Lord, the company founder.
Steve Hitchen, Managing Director of One Stop Hire said: "When the opportunity to buy Lord Hire came along it was perfect timing as we were looking at the North East as an area to move into due to customer demand. The opportunity to get such a long established business with what is a perfect network of branches in the region was compelling. It became obvious that the business was very much aligned with OSH in terms of the family-owned and family-run culture. They have very experienced and dedicated staff whose customer focus replicates our own, so we are delighted to welcome them into our family."
For now, Lord Hire will continue to operate under its own brand, but with its offering of products and services set to expand through One Stop Hire group's ownership. Going forward a strategic re-branding will take place, along with steps to ensure improved service for customers utilising OSH systems, but delivered in a manner that does not impact in any harmful way the service that Lord customer's have enjoyed for 50 years.
