The newly formed Plant and Hire Aid Alliance, led by Ardent Hire Solutions, has been created to support Ukraine in the continuing war against Russia.
50 tonnes of donated items left Ipswich on Wednesday 10th August, with transportation help from Ukraine Sunflower Aid, heading to Kosice in East Slovakia for onward distribution to Ukraine. Items included medical products, sanitizers, food, travel suitcases, bedding and mattresses.
The continuing war in Ukraine is likely to leave vast swathes of the population struggling as Winter approaches. The ruling Russian elite will be hoping that the Western media loses interest in the war so that they can continue their invasion as part of fulfilling their aims. Already their hopes are becoming reality. The invasion is reported less in the media now than at any other time despite millions of people losing their homes and livelihoods and thousands of others losing their lives.
On 16th October 2022,The Plant and Hire Aid Alliance is planning a convoy of vehicles that will take aid to Ukraine. Working with Rotary International, the plan is to drive to Kosice, in Eastern Slovakia, delivering supplies to a warehouse that will be driven into Ukraine by local volunteers. This is already a tried and tested route that has made an impact on the lives of thousands of Ukrainians.
The Plant and Hire Aid Alliance is looking for plant and hire companies that would like to take part. The aid effort will require participants to procure items from a list that will be provided by Rotary International. These might be donated by local communities, schools, gyms, through fund raising or from donations from customers and suppliers. Participating companies will also need to provide a vehicle and drivers as part of the convoy.
