AFI employees recently raised over £3,100 for the British Heart Foundation by supporting the organisation’s ‘Beat It Day’ initiative.
Staff from AFI’s 27 locations throughout the UK got into the spirit of the day by taking part in fundraising activities that included a treadmill challenge, coastal bike ride, cake and snack stalls, and body waxing.
Mark Jones, AFI HR Training Manager, said: “Over 500 people are admitted to hospital every day with a heart attack, and with 15 million men and women in the UK living with cardiovascular disease this is a serious and extremely emotive issue for the workplace. We decided to raise awareness of this by taking part in physical exercise on the day, having some fun by donning fancy dress, whilst raising money for a good cause.”
“We are committed to supporting the wellbeing of our employees and as coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer we felt it was something that we simply cannot ignore,” he added.
